Sony MVC-FD81 (1998)

Introduced by Sony on 1998-08-25. This Mavica was equipped with MPEG recording functionality and voice memo function. A 60 second movie could be recorded on one 3.5" Floppy Disk. Furthermore the camera had a 3x optical zoom lens and several recording functions like sepia, negative, b/w andsoforth. The 2x disk drive speed could record an XGA image in 5 seconds (lame now but quite an improvement back then). 
 
Initial production was set at 5,000 units per month.
