Fujix DS-330 ID (1999)

The Fujix DS-330 ID was announced the first time 1999-07-28 and is one of the rarest digital cameras around. It was a specialized version of the Fujix DS-330. It was marketed and released in a very limited quantity over a very short period of only six months. It came with a special extension unit and could only be bought together. So the extension unit EU-D3ID and the camera had the same serial number. The camera was used for ID shots of all sorts.

The reason for releasing such a camera were the newly developed photo printers NC-301DID and NC-370D. There were even packages available including both printer and this camera. Such a set was dubbed Fujix digital ID photo system "ID-10" and "ID-20". Both sets differed only by type of printer and type of external TFT monitor. The camera was the same. The package itself was very pricey, therefore Fuji offered a leasing contract upon purchasing if a company wasn't able to buy it right away. Note: the printer alone had cost $3,000. That's what explains the low and matching serial numbers and the few months of marketing.

The Extension Unit had a SCSI Port and allowed for shooting multiple frames per second. The DS-300 had the EU-D3, the DS-330 had the EU-D3A and EU-D3T and for the DS-330ID a special extension unit was produced named the EU-D3ID. The camera allowed the user to record ID shots according to preset formats and resolutions. Via the video jack an external monitor could be attached to preview and review the shot. Fujix used a Sony TFT for the ID-10 set and a Casio TFT for the ID-20 set.
