The Dycam Model 1 was the first consumer digital camera sold in the United States. You can read all about it in the History section on this website. Nothing much to add here apart from the fact that Dycam Model digital cameras were shipped in plain boxes without much upheaval. The fact that they were also marketed in small quantities explains the low 4-digit serial numbers.
Also the camera came with a neutral density filter that needed to be used in bright environments to prohibit images being overexposed. Another interesting fact was that one could download a so-called "Tripod camera code" into the camera. This piece of software would turn off the internal flash and allowed for longer exposure times. By using a computer, the exposure time could be manually entered (between 1 and 640 milliseconds).
