Panasonic NV-DCF2 (1997)

The Panasonic NV-DCF2 was announced 1997-04-02 and demonstrated at the Comdex Fall '97. At the time of the announcement it was the world's smallest digital camera with an LCD screen and removable memory. The camera consisted of an aluminum body and was very small in comparison to other bulky plastic digital cameras of that time. Despite it's small body it could still compete with the bigger models and even had a compact flash card slot and an optical viewfinder. As one of the firsts digital cameras it could be operated with only two AA batteries. Of course this wasn't enough to power up the camera and an internal flash so Panasonic decided to sell the flash as an accessoire (PV-DF18). Because docking station were a novelty and becoming quite popular, Panasonic offered one for this camera too.

In the US it was marketed as the PalmCam PV-DC1080, in Japan as the New Coolshot II (LK-RQ1Z) and elsewhere as the NV-DCF2.
