Mattel Nick Click (1999)

Announced by Mattel on 1999-10-15. An entire year after the success of the Barbie digital camera. The camera was basically identical to the Barbie Cam but this time featured a Nickolodeon theme. Since specs are the same I won't go into detail here. The software was of the typical make-over genre which was very popular in the nineties. Strange enough, this digital camera version for boys did not hit the market with the same impact as the Barbie Cam did a year ago. Less advertising and less media attention led to fewer sales. Also the general acceptance from kids around the age of 10 was rather mixed, some found it cool, others liked the camera but didn't want to be nerds or geeks and some thought it looked to childish and resembled the Barbie Cam too much.
