Fotex F10 (1994)

The Fotex F10 digital camera was announced by Dainippon Screen on 1994-05-19. A high resolution digital camera back that could be attached to any 4" x 5" view camera. It read image data directly into a computer. Aimed at printing, prepress and design companies as well as photo studios. Using highly sensitive CCDs, the camera scanned 2048 x 2048 pixels across the field for full color digital image capture. It took 15 seconds to capture a 12-bit color image in three passes (R, G and B). Output was in TIFF and EPS format. What made this digital back so special was the possibility to use it as a stand-alone camera when a Nikon lens was attached to it and the internal shutter was used.
