Fujifilm DX-9 Zoom (1997)

The Fujifilm DX-9 was marketed in early 1998 in the UK only. It was already built and marketed in Japan in 1997 as the Fujifilm Clip-It DS-30. The japanese version (DS-30) was already announced on 1997-10-15. It was also demonstrated at the MacWorldExpo in January of 1998 in San Fransisco. The DX-9 Zoom came with Apple-bundled software package.

The camera had a different body then the DX-8 and an 3x optical zoom lens as well as a new 2" Poly Silicon LCD screen. Other features included auto flash, auto exposure, shooting rate of 4, 9 or 16 images within 2 seconds. Furthermore a unique zoom playback mode allowed users to view a portion of the image in enlarged detail and a manual record mode included options for 5 white balances, 3 sharpness, flash intensity and exposure control settings. Fuji advertised this camera as having a 'high precision target AF'.

Useless tidbits:

The drivers for this camera are still available on the Fujifilm support pages. At the end of 1997 around one million digital cameras were sold in total on the world markets.
